Christmas is over – I know sorry for the spoiler and ruining everyones day. But Christmas is over now and I had some great days. It is my second year celebrating Christmas in Canada and I can honestly say that I can’t remember what I did last year other that I know I worked until 10.30 pm on the 24th and the 25th.
But this year, well I also worked both days but for breakfast shifts, I had afternoon and night off. On the 24th we were a couple of people that decided to do a pot luck and meet at Ashley’s and mines. We were 6 in total and had food from Denmark, Czech Republic, Switzerland and New Zealand. I made “brune kartofler”; directly translated in to brown potatoes. It is very tiny potatoes boiled and soaking in a pan in butter and tons of sugar! And I think the right way to make them is to make them soak in it for at least an hour. The longer they soak in the sugar and butter the better they taste. It has to be all soft and yummy. They turned out just like when mom does them at home. I have made them before in Denmark when I lived on my own and they turned out soo good too. I got my cooking skills from my mom (dad knows how but really can’t bother HAHA).
The food from the Czech girls was schnitzel and potato salad. The swiss food was really nice pasta salad and somehow it all fit perfectly together. For dessert I made danish christmas cookies; mommy’s dreams and Ashley made pavlova with whipped cream and raspberries. Yum! All so very good!
On Christmas day I worked morning again and had a good shift. Later that night we were a few people meeting up at The Crimson where I work for the Christmas buffet and a good night. We were 8 people. Jess and Josh brought some friends from the Sawridge where they work and me and Ashley was there. Very good food I have to say! Delicious! Everyone left around 7.45 pm and I stayed because we were doing Secret Santa after they closed the buffet and cleared most of it.
Nick from the kitchen had my name and bought me a really nice beenie. So stoked about it. It is good quality and so cool. He did very good there! Credits to him.
We also had ugly Christmas sweater day at work on the 24th. Of course I had to wear one and this is me trying to look all cute in it. I have to say it is way better than the breakfast shirt. It is really ugly. So I kinda enjoyed wearing this on top. I got some good comments 0n it!
Merry late Christmas from me and lots of love. XOXO
